Diagnostics 2010 - Orlando, Florida - October 11-13
This course (the sixteenth consecutive year for this popular seminar
series) updates participants' knowledge of testing techniques,
performance standards, quality assurance procedures, and clinical
applications for basic and advanced cardiopulmonary diagnostic
testing. Some of the topics to be covered include theory, methodology,
clinical indications and performance standards of plethysmography,
bronchial provocation, dilutional lung volumes and cardiopulmonary
exercise testing. The program format includes lectures,
hands-on demonstrations and small group discussions, and is conducted
by a faculty of experts from across the country.
The format accommodates the needs of a diverse audience utilizing
"tracks" to allow participants to choose topic modules
most applicable and interesting to them. Two tracks will run
concurrently with topic modules ranging from basic to advanced
and covering everything from clinical indications to performance
standards in each module.

A Practicum: Exercise Testing and Interpretation
including Pathophysiology and Clinical Applications
This three day program comprises didactic lectures, small group tutorials, and laboratory demonstrations. Educational objectives are to provide an understanding of the physiologic basis of gas exchange responses to exercise, and the practical knowledge necessary to conduct and interpret clinical exercise tests.
The course is intended for physicians in either clinical practice or in academics, including housestaff and faculty of Harbor-UCLA, and laboratory personnel involved in cardiopulmonary exercise testing. No specific preparation is required. A textbook is provided to registrants prior to the start of the course.
Harbor-UCLA is a CME-accredited provider; physicians attending the course may report up to 17 hours of Category 1 credit toward the California Medical Association Certificate in Continuing Medical Education and the AMA's Physician's Award.
